This unique gem is located on the Central American isthmus, caressed on one side by the Pacific Ocean and on the other, the Caribbean Sea. It carries a distance of approximately 248 kilometers (155 miles) from one cost to the other. It is located just between Panama and Nicaragua. The population is estimated to be 4,016,173 by July 2005. There is also very easy access to and from the various air and seaports. The official language is Spanish but English is widely spoken.
